How to make Monkey Fist Knot

Thank you I didn't know that and I was going to make a few of them for the many females in my family that travel often alone and I thought they would be nice for self defense since we are pretty head strong.

Closing the strings it looks to me from the first picture like you just pull both of the strings up one from each side and put them together and wrap them around and tuck the ends up through their opening and make sure the wrapping is tight against the knot as you tighten it. And do the same kind of knot on the very end of the strings after you cut them to the length you want them.
