Simple Round Jute Placemats

If you love jute decor and creating beautiful crafts from jute then you are going to be as excited as I am about this project. I love jute placemats and chargers – they are perfect decor elements for any tablescape setting or decorative element around your home.

Purchasing jute placemats or chargers can be costly; I’ve seen them for as much as over fifty dollars each! Why spend that kind of money when you can make them yourself and get the design and patterns you love?

Things you need:

  • Craft Jute rope. Make sure it’s craft jute. It will be softer and easier to work with. Each roll is 15 feet. I used about 17 for these place mats
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

Let`s start!

Step 1.

Plug your glue gun in and get it hot. Then put glue on the end of your rope and place it in the very middle.

Step 2.

Once you have that glued down you will start to wrap the rope around as you glue it.

Step 3.

Glue down the rest until you are done.

Useful tip:

You can use your old placemat as the base and glue jute right on it.

P.S. Some things to keep in mind while making this placemat:

  • Make sure your jute is wound tight. Try not to leave any gaps in your circle.
  • Don’t over glue.
